STOWE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A fire broke out Monday morning at a home in Stowe Township, forcing out the people who lived there and in two neighboring homes.
The fire was reported about 2 a.m. on Ohio Street, where homes are either connected or in very close proximity to one another.
Flames and heavy smoke were seen coming from the roof of one home as firefighters worked to bring the fire under control. Two neighboring homes also sustained damage.
“I heard our neighbor right out front here, and she was yelling,” fire victim Wayne Masters said. “The worst fear in this neighborhood -- they are all wood frame homes -- is fire.”
Masters said his home is still livable, although an upstairs office and bedroom were damaged.
The people who live in the other two homes were displaced. The Red Cross is providing assistance to five people.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
