A former Allegheny County Jail guard has admitted to mistreating two female inmates at the jail according to the Allegheny County district attorney’s office.
Joshua Reber, 35, appeared before Judge Edward Borkowski on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to two counts of official oppression in connection with his work as a guard on the female pod at the jail.
Reber had been a corrections officer since 2007. He was arrested in December 2015 when he showed up for work after accusations that he had sex with inmates.
“In exchange for the plea, our office agreed to withdraw two counts of institutional sexual assault but there is no agreement as to sentencing," the DA's office said in a Facebook post.
Reber is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 4.
