PENN HILLS, Pa. — One year ago Friday a Penn Hills man went missing. His mother, despite her efforts to find him, said she knows in her heart that her son is gone.
"I cry all the time because I know in my heart that my son is not here," said Lisa Zellers. "As a mother it's like piece of me is ripped away and then there's no closure."
Dominick Brown, 21, was last seen by a jitney driver who dropped him off at a McKeesport Apartment last year, his mother said. Since then he has never been heard from again.
"I was supposed to meet up with him that Friday and was planning on taking a driver's test and then we just hear nothing," said Zellers.
Zellers said even though her son was "running with the wrong crowd," he knew better. She said his disappearance might have stemmed from illegal drug activity.
"I know somebody knows something. I know somebody did something to him," she said.
Brown's family has held several gatherings since he disappeared and a $5,000 reward is being offered for any information on his whereabouts. Zellers said regardless of what her son was doing that night – he didn't deserve to die.
"Even though that it would be the worst thing that would ever be, I pray that somebody would stumble across his body or somebody would come forward because then I could start the closure process from there," Zellers said.
