OAKMONT — A car slammed into the front of Oakmont Bakery on Sweet Street late Friday night.
According to Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page, the call came in about 11:58 p.m. that there was a possible fire along with a collapse and explosions.
When crews arrived on scene, they found an SUV through the side wall and into the kitchen, according to a Facebook post. Oakmont Bakery said the car crashed through the rear corner of the building.
Oakmont crews along with Allegheny Valley, Blawnox, Verona and Aspinwall members worked to get the driver out of the car, get all occupants out and secure utilities.
Crews assisted with clean up and the removal of the car. Damages were assessed and the scene was then turned over to the business owner.
Channel 11 confirmed with 911 that one person was taken to the hospital.
Oakmont Bakery said that while they will remain open, they will not be able to bake and some products won’t be available for purchase.
The business also said on their social media that they are not accepting orders until they have a better idea of when repairs will be made.
“We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work towards restoring the damage and returning to normalcy,” the bakery said.
