GREENSBURG, Pa. — The suspect in the Franklin Regional stabbing was moved Thursday from a juvenile detention center to the Westmoreland County Jail after a judge issued the ruling last week.
Alex Hribal is charged as an adult in the April 2014 stabbing of 20 fellow students and a security guard at Franklin Regional High School. The judge ruled that he be moved to the county jail when he turns 18, which happens Thursday.
The jail warden told Channel 11's Melanie Gillespie that Hribal will be in a special needs unit for a month, which is standard for juveniles being transferred into county prison.

"He's gonna be locked In a cell 22 out of 24 hours of the day for at least one week. The seocnd week we will let him out for four hours, third week, eight hours. The fourth week he will be integrated into that unit," said John Walton, warden of the prison.
Hribal’s attorney wants the case moved to juvenile court. A hearing to make that determination is not expected to resume until November.
"I spoke to him yesterday. He doesnt have much to say. He's going to be very anxious. This is a totally different environment,” said Walton.
