Brandon Gray, of New Kensington, was found March 14 in "severe medical distress” at the Garden Inn motel by Greensburg state police and EMS personnel, according to a release from Greensburg state police.
Gray was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators determined that Gray was shot in the chest while he was being robbed at gunpoint.
Police said Thursday that they had arrested Christopher Joseph Smarr, of McKeesport, in connection with the fatal shooting. He was taken into custody at a residence in McKeesport without incident.
He’s charged with criminal homicide, robbery, receiving stolen property and firearms that are not to be carried without a license.
Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck approved of Smarr being charged as an adult.
