PITTSBURGH — Police are searching for the person who they say shot and killed a man early Friday in Pittsburgh’s Hill District early Friday.
The body of 47-year-old Jesse Poole was found on the front stoop of a Rose Street home. Police said a neighbor found Poole just before 2 a.m. and notified police.
According to investigators, Poole was shot in the chest. His father, Jesse Woods, told Channel 11 that Poole leaves behind one son and three grandchildren.
Woods said he was awakened by phone calls around 2 a.m. because some people initially thought he was the person who was shot.
“There are only two Jesses up here. …I I walked around the corner, and sure enough, it was him,” Woods said.
Woods said he is angry and tired of the violence
“This is the second son I lost, my second one,” Woods said. “The young guys with guns, they’re not going to stop. I'm sorry, they’re not going to stop. That's all they know, they're not men."
No arrests had been made as of Friday morning, and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
