St. Clair Hospital allowing patients to receive medical cost estimates online

MT. LEBANON, Pa. — Patients at St. Clair Hospital are now able to receive estimates of medical costs before even setting foot in the hospital.

Potential patients can receive estimates for everything from surgeries, to CT scans, with a few clicks of a mouse.

“People need to know what it’s going to cost for healthcare,” said Dr. Alan Yeasted, CMO of St. Clair Hospital. “Health insurance has changed, and we wanted to make sure we changed with the times.”

St. Clair Hospital is the first in the region to offer the estimate tool.

“This is something we’ve listened to our patients ask us for,” said Richard Chesnos, CFO of St. Clair Hospital.

You don’t need insurance to get your estimate. You will receive a personalized estimate of your out-of-pocket expenses based on that information.

“Anything that will help people pay less money for their procedure as long as they know the physician is a good physician, they can find these things out,” said Adele Roman of Mt. Lebanon.
