SPOKANE, Wash. — One person is dead and 3 others are injured in a shooting at Freeman High School south of Spokane, TV station KHQ reported.
The station reported the deceased is a student. Three other victims, all of whom are also students, were taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center where they are in satisfactory condition.
During a news conference, the sheriff said the shooter pulled out a gun and it jammed. The shooter then grabbed another gun and was confronted by a student. That student was shot and killed.
Other students were evacuated from Freeman. Spokane County deputies went room to room at the school to ensure all students are accounted for.
Parents were being asked to meet at the Freeman Store next to the high school, KHQ reporter Peter Maxwell said.
