Indoor dining to shut down in Beaver, Westmoreland counties due to COVID-19, sources say

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — Beaver County officials who wish to remain anonymous until an official announcement from the state told Channel 11 that indoor dining at restaurants will shut down in the next few days to help mitigate the spike in coronavirus cases.

The county went green June 12. A little more than three weeks later and with virus numbers on the rise, officials say they are being told to stop indoor dining.

According to officials we spoke with, that means outdoor dining only and no groups larger than 25 people.

We don’t know yet if it includes stopping alcohol sales. It could mean a shutdown of two weeks to contain the spread.

Officials Channel 11 talked with say it’s not fair to shut already struggling small businesses down again. We continue to wait on word from the state.

A well-placed source also tells Channel 11 restaurants in Westmoreland County will be forced to shut down indoor dining for up to two weeks.
