WEST NEWTON, Pa. — An investigation is under way into what sparked a fire that destroyed a car shop and damaged a pizza shop in West Newton, Westmoreland County.
It was around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday when crews were called to South Second Street.
The fire chief told channel 11 Area 51 Auto is a total loss. The business restored classic cars.
The chief said the second floor above the West Newtown Pizza Shop was engulfed in flames when they arrived. The pizza shop has smoke and water damage.

"This is a big loss for our community," said West Newton Mayor Mary Popovich. "I grew up right next to the pizza house, so it makes me so sad personally."
