The federal government just extended the deadline for Pennsylvania to comply with the Real ID law.
That means your Pennsylvania driver's license will be good enough to board a plane for another year.
Pennsylvania got word Thursday that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is giving the state an extension to become Real ID compliant.

Congress passed the Real ID Act in 2005 in an effort to strengthen security rules at airports.
Right now, Pennsylvania is one of 22 states that has driver's licenses that do not meet those standards.
The deadline sparked fear that Pennsylvanians would need a passport just to board a domestic flight.
Pennsylvania is still moving ahead with a new driver's license format, even though it's not Real ID compliant.
Some of the enhanced features include a new bar code designed to prevent fraud.
The state says it won't have a Real ID system in place until 2019 so if there isn't another extension, you will eventually need to get your passport ready.
And either way, by 2019, you'll need to get another new license once the state's system is ready.
