One person was killed and another severely injured when a car struck a tree in Slippery Rock Township on Tuesday night.
Police said Aaron Burd, 39, of Butler was driving what they describe as a "roadster kit car" northbound on Slippery Rock Road when he lost control of the vehicle in the 600 block at about 9:15 p.m. It veered off the west side of the road, struck a tree and overturned.

Passenger Tanya Tyson, 26, of Butler was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County coroner. Burd was severely injured and flown to Allegheny General Hospital.
Neither was wearing a seat belt.
