TARENTUM, Pa. — Three houses were damaged and 10 people were displaced by a multi-home fire in Tarentum Monday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to battle flames at a home in the 200 block of Lock Street around 2:30 p.m.
Thick smoke from the fire could be seen for miles and the closest responding fire station is right around the corner but that did not slow down this fast-moving fire. The fire quickly hit a third alarm and spread to houses nearby, causing heavy damage, because these houses sit close together.
It started in the house in the middle of the three affected on Lock Street and quickly spread to the house next-door. Two of the homes were lived in, one was vacant and 10 people total displaced.
It does not appear that anyone was injured that lives in any of these houses and firefighters were able to save some of the pets from these homes.
It’s not clear what started the fire.
