PITTSBURGH — A man was stabbed to death Tuesday night by his girlfriend at an apartment building in Pittsburgh’s South Side, police said.
Officers were called shortly before 11 p.m. to the building on South 21st Street. It had been reported that the man was stabbed in the chest, authorities said.
When officers arrived at the apartment building, they found the man on the floor of the lobby.
The man, a 49-year-old Daryl Waite, of McKeesport, was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Investigators determined that the stabbing happened in a third-floor apartment, police said.
A witness told police that Waite and Locke came to the apartment to visit. The couple got into an argument.
According to a criminal complaint, the witness “knew from her observations that Locke had stabbed him” and asked “Sandy, what did you do?”
Locke ran, but was later taken into custody with the assistance of McKeesport police.
