A Steubenville woman became the first person in the United States to receive a face transplant 10 years ago.
Connie Culp was shot in the face by her ex-husband in 2004.
She spoke about her life since then Saturday at the Center for Organ Recovery and Education.
A very sweet & upbeat woman, named Connie, spoke in front of a crowd @COREDonateLife about her face transplant. (Btw, she was the first human to have this done in the U.S. 10 yrs. ago) #WPXI #WomenMarch2018 pic.twitter.com/Ald0EkGYCM

Doctors also talked about the future of transplants.
"The toughest part was not being around my kids. not cooking for the first time for Thanksgiving. It drove me nuts. It's funny how little things bother you like that,” Culp said.
CORE says Culp’s successful transplant created a new perspective on how transplants can transform lives.
