Man convicted of murder in beating death of man in Stowe Township

A Mount Oliver man was convicted Thursday of the 2015 murder of a man in Stowe Township.

A jury convicted Brandone Johnson, 21, of second-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The victim, 44-year-old David Poole, was walking with a woman on Frazier Avenue on Memorial Day weekend in 2015 when three men approached them. Police said Johnson robbed Poole of $60 and a cellphone, punching him twice and knocking him to the ground. Poole died from his injuries about two months after the attack.

Poole's sisters told Channel 11 that they are thankful justice was served.

"We were overwhelmed with emotions," said Tiffany Chioda after the sentencing. "We're just thankful ... that he's off the streets so (Johnson) cannot hurt anyone else."

Tina Ernst, Poole's other sister, said it's been a difficult two years.

"We watched my brother pass away for 59 days, and that was probably the hardest thing we've ever experienced together," Ernst said.

Two other men charged in the case, Stephen Blakemore and Marquice Moran, entered plea deals.
