MONROEVILLE, Pa. — A man died in a house fire early Friday morning in the Garden City section of Monroeville, authorities said.
Flames and smoke were seen coming from the second floor of the Sweetleaf Drive home when firefighters arrived about 12:30 a.m., fire officials said.

“Everything was normal, and then in the middle of the night we saw the flames coming through the bedroom window. It happened so sudden,” Linda Wurm, a neighbor, said.
Chad Dimatteo, 41, was found dead inside the home. His wife and their toddler made it out.

“It's very tragic,” Wurm said. “Our prayers are for his wife and child and his parents.”
People who know the family told Channel 11 they believe Dimatteo died trying to put out the fast moving fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
DiMatteo's family has set up a GoFundMe page to help his wife and child.
