MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Kmart in Moon Township will close at the beginning of next year, part of the latest round of Kmart and Sears store closures.
Sears Holding Co. announced Thursday that 18 Sears and 45 Kmart locations will close in late January 2018. Clearance sales will start this week.

In addition to the Moon Township Kmart, a location in Clarion will also close its doors.
A Sears in Indiana will close in late January 2018, although its Sears Auto Center will shut down in early December 2017.
“Sears Holdings continues its strategic assessment of the productivity of our Kmart and Sears store base and will continue to right size our store footprint in number and size,” a news release said. “In the process, as previously announced we will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members.”
