A Pittsburgh mother is charged with breaking her 2-month-old daughter’s ribs.
Police said doctors found fractures on Adrienne Hughes' daughter when the baby was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC for breathing difficulties.
According to a criminal complaint, the baby had a bruise on her cheek and a bump on her side, in addition to the fractures.

Hughes told police her daughter sustained the injuries because she held the baby wrong, telling investigators “she sometimes holds her incorrectly while making her a bottle.”
Police had Hughes show them how she would hold her daughter with a doll. During the demonstration, police said Hughes put pressure on the rib cage and wasn't supporting the doll's head.
Hughes denied intentionally hurting her daughter, but police charged her with several counts of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Hughes was arraigned Wednesday night and jailed, unable to post bond.
