PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh’s St. Patrick’s Day parade will be dedicated to former U.S ambassador to Ireland and former Pittsburgh Steelers chairman, Dan Rooney.
Plans for the one of the nation's oldest and largest St. Patrick's Parade were announced Monday.
The 2018 parade will step off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, and will follow the same parade route as in previous years.

Nearly 22,000 participants are expected with more marching bands and Irish dancers and heritage groups making an appearance.
Pittsburgh police officers, firefighters and paramedics will be there to maintain safety and security during the event. The parade committee reminds that drinking alcoholic beverages for those marching in the parade is prohibited.
The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is Maggie Cloonan.
A special pre-parade Roman Catholic Mass to be held at St. Patrick’s Church in the Strip District at 8 a.m. Special celebrant for the mass will be Bishop David Zubik.
