Police: 6 shots fired feet away from Pittsburgh police officer

HOMEWOOD, Pa. — One man is in jail after firing shots just feet away from a Pittsburgh police officer and a crowd of people early Sunday morning, police said.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer was patrolling Kelly Street in Homewood just before 1:15 a.m. when he heard six shots directly next to his vehicle.

No one was hurt.

The officer immediately stopped his car, got out and radioed the incident into his dispatch. The officer then saw people scrambling.

The officer said he happened to see a black Chevrolet Impala turn from Zenith Way onto Kelly Street and speed away.

The officer went after the car and made the arrest.

A Pittsburgh Police spokeswoman said Dijon Robinson pulled over on his vehicle on his own a little over a block away.

Officers said they found two guns, one unregistered, marijuana and a scale in Robinson’s car.

This is the fifth shooting in Homewood this month, all less than one mile apart. This includes a homicide last week in the 7800 block of Kelly Street, that remains unresolved.

It is unclear if any of these incidents are related.
