PITTSBURGH — Monday's partial solar eclipse will be in and out of our area in less than three hours. So have your ISO safety-certified eclipse glasses ready to go early in the afternoon.
Here is the timetable:
1 p.m.: We will start to see the moon move in front of the sun shortly after 1 p.m. Monday.

2:30 p.m.: You'll be able to see a gradual increase in coverage from a very thin sliver of the sun being blocked to just more than 80 percent of the sun being blocked out.
3:50 p.m.: It will take another hour and 20 minutes for the sun to gradually reveal itself again from the moon.

We will not notice much, if any, dimming of natural light during the afternoon. However, with proper safety eclipse glasses, you'll be able to enjoy more than three-quarters of the sun being covered up early in the afternoon.
