UNITY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pennsylvania state police are asking for help from witnesses in a deadly motorcycle accident that happened over the weekend on Route 30 in Unity Township.
According to troopers, Allen Wallace Jr., 44, died when his motorcycle slammed into the back of a Kia SUV on a straightaway on the busy road around 9 p.m. Friday. He was thrown from the bike, and a coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
But investigators have questions about what exactly happened, and why the only drivers to stop were hundreds of yards away from the collision.
“One of the things we’re noticing from video surveillance footage... there should’ve been a couple vehicles that were traveling fairly closely behind. Not that they’d be involved but would be a good witness as to what was transpiring,” said Trooper Steve Limani.
Wallace was in a group of three motorcycles riding that stretch of Route 30 that night. Troopers told Channel 11 a firsthand account of what happened will hopefully give them and the victim’s family some answers.
So far, no witnesses have come forward.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call state police in Greensburg.
