Vincent Beasley was silent as he surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon at Pittsburgh municipal court.
Instead, he let defense attorney Al Burke do all the talking.
“He wanted to meet this situation head on,” Burke said. “He is not running from it.”

The arrest warrant for Beasley stemmed from his alleged involvement in attacking teacher Janice Watkins from King pre-K-8 last week.
Beasley’s girlfriend, Daishonta Williams, was arrested last week for throwing a brick at Watkins and pulling her out of her car, where police say she started to beat her.
Watkins told police that Beasley also attacked her, a claim Burke disputes.

“These two ladies engaged in assaultive behavior and he rushed in and tried to try to separate them,” Burke said.
Beasley will face eight charges, including aggravated assault.

The district attorney's office tells Channel 11 they have requested a new bond hearing Wednesday, saying, "We believe that she is a threat to the community.”
