CALIFORNIA, Pa. — After a petition calling for immigrants to be kicked out of California in Washington County there’s now some tolerance and some help.
Jordan Vadella grew up in California and says since last week's packed meeting complaining about the Romanian immigrants in the community, things have changed.
“It's a lot different now. They do clean up after selves. Not as noisy. Getting accustomed to now trying to help them out,” Vadella said.
Vito Dentino is the landlord for the dozens of Romanian families who now live in California.

“I guess they're accepting them,” Dentino said.
He said after last week's meeting, he thinks everyone has a better understanding.
Dentino says the Romanians who have moved in have been good for local businesses, and now local churches have stepped up to try help them become acclimated.
Channel 11 has also learned professors from California University of Pennsylvania are meeting Wednesday to see how they can help the Romanians adapt.
“That will help them a lot,” Valdella said. “Learn the language ethics, how we do things around here.”
