U.S. marshals search for Wexford man guilty of sex crimes against children

WEXFORD, Pa. — A Wexford man is wanted by U.S. marshals.

Daniel Teed, 56, of Wexford failed to show up to federal prison to serve a 10-year sentence on Jan. 5.

Teed pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit child sex trafficking last year.

U.S. marshals are aggressively searching for Teed, because they suspect he may have guns with him.

They suspect he had been planning to run.

"This wasn't a spur of the moment decision," said Deputy U.S. Marshal Tad Thompson. "We think there was some planning involved in this and we are actively seeking him throughout the United States."

Investigators said Teed and former Ambridge youth basketball coach Ralph Ruprecht, recruited girls and brought them to an apartment in the Strip District for sex parties.

Ruprecht pleaded guilty to state charges and is serving eight to 16 years in prison.

Teed lived in a townhouse in Wexford.

Neighbors told Channel 11 his relatives are living there now, but no one answered the door when Channel 11 knocked Thursday.

Investigators believe he was in the Pittsburgh area until Dec. 29.

"At the time he fled, we believe he had access to weapons, so we would consider him armed and dangerous," Thompson said.

Teed is originally from Meadville, but investigators said he has family in West Virginia, Tennessee and a house in Davenport, Florida, near Orlando.

"There's been a lot of theories floated around and we've done a lot of interviews," Thompson said. "We've made contact with multiple family members and sought their assistance."

Investigators told Channel 11 that Teed frequented escort services and they suspect he's still doing that.
