Police are searching for the person who shot and killed two men Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood.

Police and paramedics were called about 10:30 a.m. to an apartment complex on the 6200 block of Auburn Street.

Family and friends gathered on Auburn Street later Tuesday, trying to find out who was involved in the shooting.

"I heard about four pops," said Brandi Thompson, who lives nearby. "I thought the four pops were just fireworks."

Thompson told Channel 11 she was sitting on her front porch when the shooting happened, but she said it was an unusually quiet morning in the neighborhood.

"There wasn't nobody out here, nobody," she said. "Cars usually drive past. Today, I didn't see any cars drive past."

The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear, but police said there were several drug arrests made in the area late Monday night.

"There was some activity here just yesterday that involved a drug investigation. We do not know if the two are associated with one another at this time," said Pittsburgh Police spokeswoman Sonya Toler.

While investigators look into the possibility that there is a connection, Thompson said she is fearful that the string of violence isn't over.

"I can't carry this weight that's going on, time and time again in this area," Thompson said. "It's too heavy to stay around here."

A black Cadillac Escalade was towed from the scene in connection with the investigation. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Violent Crime Unit is asking anyone with information to call 412-323-7800.
