PITTSBURGH — Scaffolding and safety walls are now going up around the Frick Building in downtown Pittsburgh.
Channel 11 was there today as workers finished building the containment wall on Grant Street. The wall is to protect people from falling debris in case anything else falls off the building.
All roads around the building have been closed since a giant chunk of granite fell from the building Sunday night.

Steel scaffolding will go up next and will be built all the way to the top of the building so repairs can begin. Channel 11 has learned that scaffolding will be finished by Aug. 18.
Once the scaffolding is up, city officials are supposed to open at least one lane of Grant Street, but there will still be four to six weeks of repairs that will need to be done.
According to the mayor’s office, a portion of Grant Street will remain closed through the weekend. City officials were trying to open at least one lane but there is still no timeline for that.
