PITTSBURGH — The eastbound lanes of the Parkway West near Pittsburgh International Airport were closed Monday morning due to a tractor-trailer fire.
The road was closed shortly before 9 a.m. eastbound at Exit 52 (Clinton). The westbound express lane was also closed in the area.
The tractor-trailer was destroyed by the fire.
In video sent to Channel 11 by Facebook user Brian Smith, thick black smoke and heavy flames could be seen rising into the air.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
The accident was cleared at about 11 a.m., but the detour remained in place until just before 5 p.m.
