3-week-old boy found dead in motel freezer, Dallas police say

DALLAS — Officials are investigating after authorities found the body of a 3-week-old infant inside a freezer in a motel, Dallas police said Monday.

Detectives found the boy's body after getting a call around 2 p.m. Saturday from a special investigator with Texas Child Protective Services. The call had been regarding a welfare check, police said.

Detectives responded to the call, at the Days Inn on the 8300 block of South Lancaster Road, near Interstate 20, according to The Dallas Morning News. Inside a freezer in one of the motel rooms, authorities found the body of a male infant, police said.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner did not immediately release the boy’s suspected cause of death. Police said Monday the investigation was ongoing.
