PITTSBURGH — A water main break early Wednesday morning resulted in damage to some homes in Pittsburgh’s Banksville neighborhood and left dozens of residents without water.
The break happened on High Oak Drive, sending water and debris running onto Potomac Avenue.
A Pennsylvania-American Water spokesman said about 40 customers lost service and at least two homes sustained water damage.
Several homes and businesses in the area were damaged by a break three months ago in the same line.
“The last one was 6 feet deep. This is about a foot and a half, 2 feet,” a neighbor told Channel 11 News. “Old water mains are going to break, you know. You live at the bottom of a hill. It's going to happen.”
A.J. McQuillan owns Banksville Quality Auto, located at the bottom of the hill. He is still cleaning up from the break during the winter.
“I got customers that are afraid to bring their cars now and more customers who figure it's going to happen again, and it did happen again,” McQuillan said. “It's getting old. It's getting really ridiculous.”
Potomac Avenue was closed while crews worked to clean up and make repairs.
