PITTSBURGH — UPDATE (9:30 PM) The Pittsburgh Penguins made it official, acquiring Derick Brassard and a 2018 third-round pick from the Ottawa Senators in a three-team deal that included the Vegas Golden Knights.

According to a release from the Penguins, the team is sending defenseman Ian Cole, goalie Filip Gustavsson, a 2018 first-round draft pick and a 2019 third-round selection to the Senators.

Pittsburgh is also sending forward Ryan Reaves and a 2018 fourth-round draft pick originally acquired from Vancouver to the Golden Knights. Vegas agreed to retain 40 percent of Brassard’s salary this season.

The Penguins are also getting back prospect forward Vincent Dunn from the Senators, and prospect forward Tobias Lindberg from Vegas.

UPDATE (7:45 PM) The deal between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators may not be done quite yet.

Multiple sources are reporting that the NHL has not yet approved the trade that would send Penguins' defenseman Ian Cole, goaltender Filip Gustavsson and a 2018 first round draft pick to the Senators for forward Derick Brassard.

Darren Dreger, an NHL insider for Canada's The Sports Network, reported that the deal is being reworked due to unknown issues. Dreger, among other sources, is also reporting that the Vegas Golden Knights are also involved in the deal somehow.

How Vegas works into the trade, if at all, is still unclear.

Neither team nor the league has made any official announcement regarding the trade.
