TUESDAY UPDATE: The Florida Panthers, in need of a goalie after starter Roberto Luongo was injured against the Penguins, picked up Pittsburgh's backup goalie on Tuesday.
The Panthers claimed Antti Niemi off waivers, the team announced. Niemi had was 0-3 with a .797 save percentage for the Penguins this season.

After a dismal performance Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Penguins placed back-up goaltender Antti Niemi on waivers.

Niemi has started three games for the Penguins this season and all three were losses. His save percentage in those games was a dreary .797.
He was picked up in the off-season after Marc-Andre Fleury went to the Las Vegas Golden Nights.

It's unclear whether the Penguins will recall Tristan Jarry from the Wilkes-Barre Baby Penguins or find another back-up goalie.
