PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Patric Hornqvist to a five-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Carrying an average yearly value of $5.3 million, the deal begins with the 2018-19 season and runs through 2022-23, according to a news release.
Hornqvist joins Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel, Kris Letang, Brian Dumoulin and Olli Maatta as players locked up with the Penguins through at least the 2021-22 season.
Hornqvist scored the 2017 Stanley Cup-clinching goal in Game 6 against Nashville, where he started his career.
The Penguins acquired Hornqvist, along with Nick Spaling, in 2014. The deal sent James Neal to the Predators.
