PITTSBURGH — UPMC and the Pittsburgh Penguins are holding the first in a series of COVID-19 vaccination clinics at PPG Paints Arena on Monday.
All clinics are by appointment only and registrations are going through the UPMC online registry.
In February, UPMC launched a website for people to pre-register for the vaccine. The site already has more than 350,000 people signed up. UPMC is actively contacting people on that list to schedule appointments for the vaccine.
So far, UPMC has administered more than 230,000 doses of the vaccine and is averaging around 22,000 shots each week, according to officials.
“We’re really excited about the partnership between UPMC and the Pittsburgh Penguins and are grateful to the Pens for generously offering their arena and space to UPMC as we vaccinate community members,” said Mark Sevco, president, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. “So far, UPMC has administered more than 230,000 doses and we are averaging around 22,000 shots each week. We will do great work with the Pens support at PPG Paints Arena and the UPMC Lemieux Sports complex in the coming weeks.”
