PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers are bringing their intrastate rivalry to Heinz Field, which is being transformed into an ice rink for the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.
The Feb. 25 outdoor matchup, airing on WPXI-TV Channel 11, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of both teams, which were introduced to the NHL as part of the six-team expansion in 1967.
Construction of the rink at Heinz Field is well underway. Progress has been shared on Twitter.
