PITTSBURGH — Duquesne University on Tuesday morning broke ground on the home of its planned College of Osteopathic Medicine, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024.
While Tuesday was the first physical step of the building of the osteopathic medical school, it has been under development for several years. Dr. John Kauffman has been named as dean and Kauffman and his executive leadership team has been working toward accreditation and increasing Duquesne COM’s capabilities. The medical school will train physicians for urban and rural regions, where there is a need for them, even before the Covid-19 pandemic stressed the health care system.
