Giant Eagle's fried chicken food truck hits the road

PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle is launching a new food truck called the Fried Chicken Express, which will be hitting the roads around the Pittsburgh area starting this week.

"We took an old Maryland family recipe to make the most irresistibly crispy, incredibly juicy fried chicken available at food truck festivals, sporting activities, business parks or any other outdoor event where the taste of fried chicken would be appreciated," Giant Eagle spokesperson Dan Donovan said in a press release.

The truck will offer a traditional 8-piece bucket, single meals, wraps, salads, chili and coleslaw, macaroni and potato salad, and chicken sandwich meals.

July events that the Fried Chicken Express will be attending include:

  • Thursday, July 07 - Side street near Market Square 11 a.m. -2 p.m. 
  • Friday, July 08 - Bicentennial Bash - near the Heinz History Center 7 p.m. -10 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 09 - Pirates vs. Cubs at PNC Park 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 12 - Car Cruise at the Waterfront 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 13 - Cinema in the Park - Schenley Park/Flagstaff Hill 7 p.m. -10 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 14 - Riverhounds Game - Highmark Stadium / Station Square 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Sunday July 17 - Feed More Festival - Stage AE exact time TBD
