UNIONTOWN, Pa. — A man was found shot to death in Uniontown over the weekend after what police say was some sort of neighbor dispute.
Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker said the coroner’s office was called to Murray Avenue at around 8:45 p.m. Sunday for a 20-year-old man who died from a gunshot wound.
The victim’s manner of death has been ruled as a homicide, the coroner’s office said.
Baker identified the victim as Jacob Forcina-Wilson. He was visiting the house where he was found shot, police said.
“It’s terrible,” said Damita Jones of Uniontown. “It doesn’t matter really how old you are. Death is death.”
According to Uniontown Police, Wilson was shot at 48 Murray Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday while visiting with friends.
“He was a good friend to me,” Kierra Smith told Channel 11′s Andrew Havranek. “He used to come over to my house and chill. He wasn’t really a bad person.”
Lt. Tom Kolencik said the shooting came after some sort of neighbor dispute while a group of people were hanging out.
“It was undetermined what kind of gathering it was. We just know there was a group of younger people there that were all together,” Kolencik said. “An argument ensued between people, neighbors, that led to the shooting. There were witnesses in the area. We’re still conducting investigations with our witnesses.”
But, as of now, there is no suspect or person of interest named in the homicide investigation.
Police said this is the third shooting, and second fatal shooting in Uniontown within recent weeks.
Smith, and many who live in Uniontown tell Channel 11 they’re fed up with the violent crime.
“It’s really sad. It’s really sad out here,” Smith said.
“Especially when you have kids that are like, one,” added Smith’s friend, Isabella Schartiger.
“Especially when you have kids,” Smith added. “I have four already and one on the way. It’s really, really sad.”
“We just need to do something, go back to how we used to do it with everybody concerned about everybody,” Jones said.
