Call the Marriott City Center these days and the voice message suggests a property long ago abandoned during the worst days of Covid-19.
“We are currently closed during this time with an anticipated reopening in the summer of 2021,” reports the message at one of the region’s largest hotels and a property whose operation disappeared into the limbo of pandemic shutdowns.
As the calendar nears the end of the year and the start of 2023, well over a year after an anticipated opening that never happened, the Marriott City Center is nonetheless expected to open its doors again soon under new ownership.
While the company couldn’t be immediately reached for comment, Fairfax, Virginia-based Crescent Hotels & Resorts now includes the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center among its portfolio of hotel properties on its website, a collection that extends throughout North America.
