Pittsburgh man charged with escape after not returning to residential reentry center

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man is facing a federal charge of escape after he allegedly failed to return to a residential reentry center in October.

Ryan Gainer, 44, was granted a 48-hour home pass in October 2024, the Department of Justice said. After the pass, he did not return to the residential reentry center where he was serving a federal sentence.

Gainer faces a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both.
