PITTSBURGH — A new research report highlights just how much opportunity there is to convert office buildings into residential in Pittsburgh and in cities throughout the country.
How challenging or likely it will continue to be for such buildings to go from hosting floors of office workers to being lived-in is another question.
According to Commercial Cafe, Pittsburgh ranks sixth in the country behind San Francisco and Philadelphia for having “the highest conversion potential office space,” based on the firm’s conversion feasibility index, which assesses the feasibility of converting office properties into residential based on building characteristics, location, design challenges and environmental factors.
