PITTSBURGH — A 15-year-old girl was shot in the legs early Thursday morning when a bullet went through the wall of a Spring Hill apartment, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 5:30 a.m. on Rhine Place.

Investigators said the bullet went into the girl's apartment wall and hit her. She was rushed to a local hospital where she's listed in stable condition, according to police.

Police are still investigating who fired the shot.

Parents who live in the neighborhood said gun violence needs to stop and they worry about their own kids each day.

“When I woke up this morning to take my son to school, I see all these cop cars out here so I don’t know what’s going on.  I hope they find out what’s going on because my son’s only 3 years old. And I want him to see his 4th birthday, his 5th birthday. Because kids are dying too young and it’s just really sad this stuff is going on,” neighbor Jeannette Youngblood said.

The investigation continues as they search for the person responsible.
