WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — A police pursuit Friday in Washington County ended in a violent crash that sent three people to area hospitals.

State police said a trooper was traveling northbound on Interstate 79 with lights and sirens on to respond to a report of a disabled vehicle.

While en route, the trooper saw a Dodge Nitro driving erratically and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Deja Weaver of Pittsburgh, allegedly took off at a high rate of speed, according to a criminal complaint.

The chase continued off the Houston exit, onto Route 519 and then Route 19 before Weaver tried to make a right on Racetrack Road, where her vehicle collided with a water tanker stopped at a red light and bounced into eastbound traffic before hitting a tri-axle truck, according to the complaint.
