Andean Condor egg at Pittsburgh’s National Aviary has stopped developing

PITTSBURGH — An Andean Condor egg at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh has stopped developing, the aviary announced Wednesday.

The egg was laid in April and was expected to hatch in early June.

The egg was laid after a courtship between the aviary’s Andean Condors named Lianni and Lurch. Lianni is 36 years old.

“This egg, though it did not successfully hatch, is a promising sign for Lianni and Lurch. We are very hopeful for their future breeding success,” a statement from the aviary said.
