The Real ID has been available to get for a full year now in Pennsylvania and the October deadline is slowly approaching.
PennDOT said they have processed about 2.7 million customers. More than 826,00 chose to get the Real ID while the remaining 1.8 million have chosen not to or are using an alternative form of ID.

“Although October may seem far away right now, we encourage our customers who want a REAL ID to get one as soon as possible,” said PennDOT Acting Secretary Yassmin Gramian. “We continue to focus on providing the best possible customer service to all of our customers as the federal deadline approaches.”
Starting on Oct. 1, travelers will not be able to fly or visit a secure federal building with just a regular license. A Real ID, a passport or military ID will be required.
To apply for a Real ID driver’s license, you will need an original or certified copy of a birth certificate, a passport, Social Security card, two proofs of current address and proof of all legal name changes.
