The Long lines at Elluingers deer processing in Jackson Township, Butler County is a sure sign hunting season is underway and with it comes danger.

One of the first injuries in Buffalo Township happened when a 45-year-old man fell out of a tree stand in the woods on the Lernerville Speedway property.

“He fell about 15 feet had a compound fracture to one of his legs,” said Chief Matt Cypher of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department.

The hunter was a quarter-mile deep in the woods. Thankfully, the volunteer department has a 4 x 4 that got them there quickly and got the patient to the medical helicopter.

Back with the hunters after a successful day for them in the woods, they said safety is always on their minds.

“Yes, I preach to my son. I preach it to everyone. I wear a vest with a harness; you have to,” Donald Petrella, a hunter, said.

Officials say it's best if you hunt with buddies.

We're told this guy was with family and those family members did call 911.

He suffered multiple breaks in his leg.
