PITTSBURGH — A man has been found guilty of strangling and raping two women, one of whom was pregnant, near Westinghouse High School last year.

Residents who live in the area of Pittsburgh where the attacks happened told Channel 11 they now have a sense of relief knowing Daryl Hayden has been convicted.
"We didn't feel safe," said Homewood resident Dianna Williams, who remembers what it was like in her community after the two women were sexually assaulted last year.

On Tuesday, a jury convicted Hayden, 57, of attacking and raping the women in a wooded area last June.
One of his victims was six months pregnant.
"For this to happen in my community, I am shocked and outraged," Williams said.

According to the criminal complaint, one of Hayden's victims told police, "He grabbed me by the throat and choked me so many times I couldn't breathe. He pulled me farther into the woods and I fought to stay in the light. I screamed and screamed. I screamed for my freedom. He said, 'Stop screaming or I'll kill you.'"
A jury convicted Hayden of aggravated assault, strangulation, rape and other sex charges.
He will be sentenced on Sept. 6.
