WAYNESBURG, Pa. — PennDOT officials confirmed to Channel 11 that a maintenance facility in Waynesburg was on fire and it impacts not just Greene County, but much of western Pennsylvania.
At the peak of the fire, thick black smoke billowed, able to be seen for miles.

“The inside is gutted. It’s basically destroyed,” said Jane Weinzierl who saw the fire.
The fire chief told Channel 11 the building housed all kinds of equipment including dump trucks and front loaders. They were damaged along with office materials.

Nobody was inside the building at the time of the fire.
The fire marshal is bringing in an electrical engineer to help determine a cause.
